Module 4: Person Centered Care -

This module focuses on developing an individualized approach that honours each person’s unique needs, lived experiences, and personal history. You’ll learn how to create a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment where clients feel seen, respected, and emotionally secure. We emphasize understanding behaviour through a compassionate, non-pathologizing lens, moving away from labels and toward curiosity and connection. The module also explores how to design tailored interventions that respect diverse backgrounds, nervous system patterns, and past experiences, allowing care to feel collaborative, empowering, and truly client-led.

Module 5: Mindfulness Module -

This module explores the cultivation of self-awareness, emotional regulation, and resilience through mindfulness-based practices. Participants will learn skills that strengthen present-moment awareness and support a grounded, steady connection to both internal and external experiences. A key focus is developing an attitude of acceptance and non-judgment toward thoughts, emotions, and bodily sensations. The module also integrates trauma-informed principles, ensuring practices are offered with sensitivity, choice, and respect for past experiences, so mindfulness feels safe, accessible, and supportive for all participants.

Module 6: PACE - Learn about the PACE model: Engage in a dynamic learning journey incorporating playful activities, fostering acceptance, curiosity and empathy for personal growth and transformation in our sessions. We explore how maintaining a curious mindset in equine-assisted exercises promotes a trauma-informed approach. And we consider the role of curiosity in understanding non-verbal cues and clients' experiences without making assumptions. We also explore how this affects our horses.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is this course for?

This training is designed for people who are passionate about horses, personal growth, and supporting others in meaningful ways.

Students come from a variety of backgrounds, including horse owners, coaches, educators, helping professionals, and people who simply feel called to combine their love of horses with wellbeing-focused work.

Whether you're looking to enhance your current practice or begin a new journey, this course provides a strong foundation for facilitating Equine Wellbeing Sessions.

Do I need to own horses?

No.

You do not need to own horses to complete the training. Many students join while they are still exploring how they might incorporate equine wellbeing into their future plans. If you intend to offer sessions after certification, you will need access to suitable horses, a safe environment, appropriate insurance, and policies that support both human and horse wellbeing.

Is this therapy?

No.

This is a coaching certification, not a therapy qualification.

Equine Wellbeing Sessions focus on personal growth, self-awareness, emotional literacy, confidence, connection, and wellbeing. While many people find these experiences deeply meaningful, participants are not receiving therapy unless they are working with a qualified therapist in that capacity.

Can I work with adults after completing the course?

Absolutely.

Many people assume equine wellbeing work is only for children or youth, but adults often benefit just as much. Graduates may choose to work with adults, youth, families, community groups, schools, or private clients, depending on their experience, training, insurance, and area of interest.

What does "trauma-informed" mean?

Trauma-informed practice recognizes that our experiences shape how we see the world, respond to challenges, and connect with others.

Rather than asking "What's wrong with this person?" we learn to approach people with curiosity, compassion, and respect. A trauma-informed approach values safety, trust, choice, collaboration, and empowerment while helping create environments where people feel supported and understood.

Do I need previous qualifications?

Not necessarily.

Students come from many different backgrounds. Some have experience in education, coaching, counselling, or helping professions, while others bring strong horse knowledge and life experience. What matters most is a willingness to learn, reflect, and work in a safe, ethical, and person-centred way.

How is the course delivered?

The course is delivered live online via Zoom over 10 weeks.

Classes include teaching, discussion, reflection, and opportunities to ask questions and connect with other students. Recordings are available if you are unable to attend live.

What support will I receive during the course?

One of the things I value most is creating a supportive learning environment. Students receive live teaching, opportunities for discussion, guidance throughout the course, and feedback on coursework. My goal is to create a learning space where people feel comfortable asking questions, exploring new ideas, and growing in confidence. I also create a private group chat on Facebook or WhatsApp for all in the class. This chat will stay active indefinitely for ongoing support.

What happens after I complete the course?

Upon successful completion of the coursework requirements, you will be certified as an Equimotional Coach. From there, many graduates incorporate equine wellbeing into existing roles or build their own coaching practice. The path you take will depend on your interests, experience, and the people you feel called to support.

Why train with Janet?

While the Equimotional curriculum provides the foundation, the learning experience is shaped by the trainer leading it. My background includes trauma-informed coaching, Root Cause Therapy, Embodied Processing, nervous system-informed approaches, equine wellbeing, and over a decade of supporting survivors of abuse. I am passionate about creating learning spaces where people feel safe, supported, and empowered to grow.

I believe meaningful learning happens through curiosity, connection, and relationship. My goal is not only to teach the curriculum, but to support students in finding their own authentic way of working with both horses and people. When you train with me, you can expect a warm, supportive environment where questions are welcomed, growth is encouraged, and learning is approached with compassion rather than judgment.
